Impact of simulated deep-sea polymetallic nodule mining on sediment and pore-water geochemistry in prospective mining areas in the NE Pacific Ocean

Abstract: <p>Industrial-scale harvesting of deep-sea mineral resources, such as polymetallic nodules, is likely to have severe consequences for the natural environment. However, the effects of mining activities on deep‑sea ecosystems, sediment geochemistry and element fluxes are still poorly understood.
