This study examines the relationship of fear of missing out (FOMO) with heavy social networking among Turkish university students (aged 17 - 55). The perception of the possible role of parental supervision on online activities is also investigated. Factor analysis of FOMO scale led us to evaluate the construct under two dimensions as (1) fear of missing experience and (2) fear of missing activity. The results revealed that fear of missing activity increases social media intrusion while fear of missing experience is found to have no significant effect. The reverse relationship is also valid: an urge to use social media predicts fear of missing out (activity and experience). Fear of missing experience is associated with problematic social media use (PSMU) and a high desire to use social media. The results additionally demonstrate that students aged 30 and older believe more in the requirement of parental control than those aged 17-22.

Related literature review evidence that self-control and attention have strong relationship. Despite a rich body of literature on self-control and attention, few studies have analyzed the relationship between self-control and CPA as a new phenomenon emerging with the intensive use of technology. Relationship between CPA and self-controls has been analyzed in this study. This correlation study conducted with 55 prospective teachers, CPA Survey and BSCS have been used. Pearson correlation coefficient, t-test and descriptive statistics used in data analysis. To the results, it was determined that the self-control abilities of prospective teachers were high whereas CPA levels were low. It was found that the CPA levels of the prospective teachers decreased, and self-control abilities increased as technology use increased. Contrary to common belief, no significant relationship was found between CPA and self-control as a result of Pearson correlation.

For the Z-Generation, the Internet has become a very important experimentation laboratory for the discovery and validation of their identity. Despite the importance of the process of building the self in the adolescent, there are hardly any validated instruments that measure the self online. The aim of this research was to design and validate the Brief Self Online Scale (SO-8). A total of 843 students (384 boys, 45.6%), with an age range of 10 to 14 years participated. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) confirmed the hypothesized model of two correlated factors (Online Self-Perception and Online Idealized Projection), previously obtained through exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The reliability coefficients of Self Online dimensions were adequate. Indicators of convergent validity were obtained, finding significant correlations with self-concept, problematic Internet use, and online emotional intelligence. The SO-8 has adequate psychometric properties to be considered a reliable and valid tool to measure the construct of the Self Online in adolescents.
