Una de las razones para desertar del sistema educativo es la falta de interés por proseguir estudios tanto a nivel medio como superior. A partir de este problema el objetivo principal de la investigación es medir el compromiso escolar en los estudiantes pertenecientes al octavo año de educación básica y que asisten a escuelas municipales en la ciudad de Talca, la que se encuentra ubicada en la Región del Maule, Chile. La investigación se realizó durante el año 2019, para ello se utilizó en una metodología cuantitativa descriptiva-transversal, tanto para recolectar información como para su análisis, se utilizó una adaptación del instrumento diseñado por la Universidad de Indiana denominado National Survey of Student Engagement, el cual mide siete dimensiones: apoyo institucional, aprendizaje activo y colaborativo, experiencias educativas enriquecedoras, interacción con los docentes, factores intrínsecos, factores extrínsecos y reto académico. El instrumento fue aplicado a una total del ocho por ciento del total de los centros educativos vulnerables, alcanzando un total de trescientos noventa estudiantes. Los hallazgos Indican que existe diferencia en el nivel de compromiso escolar por sexo y entre los estudiantes que han repetido y aquellos que no han repetido de curso en Enseñanza básica no apreciando diferencias significativas en el resto de las variables medidas.

Przedmiotem artykułu są kompetencje społeczne i emocjonalne, które mają podstawowe znaczenie dla wolontariuszy posługujących w hospicjach. Celem autorki jest opracowanie metody umożliwiającej określenie poziomu kompetencji społecznych i emocjonalnych, którymi dysponują kandydaci na wolontariuszy. Wiedza ta będzie przydatna w procesie rekrutacji wolontariuszy do posługi przy chorych i umierających. W części teoretycznej artykułu wyjaśniono, czym jest hospicjum, jakie miejsce zajmują w jego strukturze wolontariusze i jakie stawia się wobec nich oczekiwania odnośnie kompetencji. W części dotyczącej badania główny problem badawczy brzmi: Jakie kompetencje społeczne i emocjonalne posiadają kandydaci na wolontariuszy hospicyjnych? Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników można stwierdzić, że szczególnie cenione są kompetencje emocjonalne związane wynikające z dojrzałości osobowej.

Using a bibliographic approach that employs a systematic literature review, this paper analyzes the state of the field for assessing transformative learning (TL). Assessing TL has always been challenging. Using the field of international education (IE) as a case study, this article leverages findings from the assessment of TL in IE to illustrate overall strengths and limitations of TL assessment instruments and techniques within the larger arc of TL theory. The field of IE exemplifies the challenges of TL assessment generally. This article reinforces distinctions between TL and “good learning,” recommends better alignment between scholarship and the needs of institutional administrators, considers current uses and limitations of instruments grounded in cognitive approaches, and concludes with new directions possible through the inclusion of extra‐rational perspectives in the assessment of TL.
