“…Cells accumulate most during the M and G2 phases of the cell cycle. 3,6,9 Studies carried out with bacterial and mammalian cell cultures have confirmed the notion of DNA strand scission. 9 The cytotoxic effect of bleomycin is greatly enhanced by coupling the drug with local anesthetics, 11 such as dibucaine, tetracaine, butacaine, lidocaine, procaine, and ethanol.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Although initially believed to be dose‐related, some patients develop this condition after very low doses of bleomycin . There are two proposed physiopathological mechanisms for the FE of bleomycin: (i) increased blood flow to the skin after minor trauma (scratch or pressure) allowing a higher bleomycin local dose; (ii) lack of bleomycin hydrolase that metabolizes bleomycin on the lungs and skin allowing increased toxicity in these organs …”

“…Umezawa published his discovery in 1966 (1). The drug is metabolized by bleomycin hydrolase, but it has been shown to have adverse effects in tissues with relatively low levels of this enzyme, such as the lungs and skin (2,3). Flagellate dermatitis and subsequent hyperpigmentation in the skin in patients receiving bleomycin has a reported incidence between 8% and 22% (4) (5).…”
