Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Friedman's rank ANOVA of the pharmacodynamic data indicated a clear dose-efficacy relationship and suggested 30 mg OX-373 as equipotent to 30 mg flurazepam. The latter substance has been identi fied in previous all-night sleep EEG investi gations as an hypnotic drug by us and other investigators [Kales et al, 1969[Kales et al, , 1970Saletu, 1976]. Moreover, we found that the mentioned dosage of flurazepam (30 mg) induced a good subjectively experi enced sleep quality [Saletu and Itil, 1973], On the other hand, there were complaints in getting fully alert after 30 mg flurazepam Saletu, 1976], which seems to be due to the long half-life of the drug recently commented upon by Oswald [ 1979], The latter author postulated that the choice of an hypnotic should favor one whose action is confined as far as possible to nighttime, e.g., a compound that is in itself active and fairly quickly metabolized.…”
