Idiopathic Hypoparathyroidism in the Newborn
Abstract: Although idiopathic hypoparathyroidism is an uncommon disease, the incidence of onset in childhood is relatively high. In a review of the literature in 1952, Steinberg reported the onset of the disease before 16 years of age in 34 of 52 patients.1 Of these, only 2 became symptomatic during the first years of life and none during the neonatal period.
