Identification of CCR6, the Specific Receptor for a Novel Lymphocyte-directed CC Chemokine LARC

Abstract: ؉ and CD8 ؉ T cells was strongly up-regulated by IL-2. Taken together, GPR-CY4 is the specific receptor for LARC expressed selectively on lymphocytes, and LARC is a unique functional ligand for GPR-CY4. We propose GPR-CY4 to be designated as CCR6.

“…IL-2 has been described to potently up-regulate CCR1, CCR2, CCR5, CCR6, and CXCR3 (27,30,32,50,51). More recently, IL-15 has been shown to have similar effects on some of the CC chemokine receptors (27,33).…”

“…CCR5 can bind to other CC chemokines (CCL2, CCL7-8 and CCL13) with decreased affinity [61]. CCR6 has been shown to be a receptor for CCL20 [62]. CCL19 and CCL21 bind to CCR7 [63] while CCR8 appears to bind CCL1 specifically [64].…”

“…Activated T cells express CXCR3 [69,70], CXCR4 [71], CCR1 [72], CCR2 [72,73], CCR3 [70,74], CCR4 [71,74], CCR5 [70,73,75], CCR6 [76], CCR7 [77,78], and CCR8 [79][80][81] (Table 4). Activated T cells can be polarized to either T helper (Th) 1 or Th2 type cells, which demonstrate differential profiles of cytokine expression and helper functions in immune reaction.…”
