This study examined the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) - pedagogy integration awareness and competencies of faculty members of a teacher education institution (TEI). Descriptive research method was employed through the use of survey questionnaire to collect data. Fifty (50) faculty members served as respondents in this study. Most of the respondents perceived themselves to be extremely aware of utilizing ICT tools/ equipment and moderately aware of using application software despite reporting that they were self-taught in acquiring basic ICT skills. They were also found to be proficient in terms of level of competency in integration. It was also discovered that most areas of their competency were significantly related to respondents’ awareness in using ICT. This paper suggests that higher education institutions should devise innovative teacher training programs that will increase the ICT pedagogy awareness and integration of teacher education faculty members.

Modern technologies appear to be gaining in popularity, and affect every sphere of human activity, including education. Thus, ICT (Information communication technologies) have become an inseparable part of the learning process. This article examines the possibilities of learning English by means of mobile applications. Three mobile devices have been selected for the purposes of this research, namely the smartphone, tablet, and smartwatch. Altogether 38 Slovak participants completed a questionnaire, which contained questions concerning the types of mobile devices as well as places and frequency of the devices used. Furthermore, identifying which skills (listening, reading, speaking, writing), and what type of mobile applications are used were also the focus of this research. The research findings indicate that it is the smartphone which is used the most. The most probable place of using the mobile applications is the learners’ home, and when it comes to the frequency, the acquired data illustrate a diverse range in relation to how often the mobile applications are used for the purposes of learning English. As far as the language skills are concerned, it can be concluded that the learners predominantly focus on listening, followed by reading, writing, and speaking. Exploring the preference for language systems, the research results reveal that the participants concentrate on vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation respectively. Finally, it was found out that it is the dictionary applications which are used the most. It can be concluded that mobile applications represent a powerful and popular educational tool whichis worth attention of teachers, researchers, and academics worldwide, and further investigation into this matter is necessary, and it will certainly prove useful to both language teachers and students.

The era of globalization and media presents new opportunities for a comprehensive study of various aspects of social life, including a large field of social sciences as education and pedagogical sciences. The mentioned factors and a number of descrepancies served as the starting point for studying the problem of developing a system of digital skills and media education within the organization of environmental education of preschool children and the formation of ICT competence of teachers. Modernity witnesses harmful technogenic influence of human activity on the natural world, which leads to a global crisis in the relationship between man and nature. At present, the Russian Federation is experiencing a new digital impulse, which entails research into the impact of information and media technologies on the sociocultural and educational activities of all participants of educational relations. Thus, the purpose of the article lies in theoretical justification and experimental verification of new methodology as an integrated system of environmental education of preschool children and the formation of ICT competence of the pedagogical corps of a preschool organization. To achieve this goal, the authors used a set of methods: theoretical (analysis of scientific literature on the research problem; summative methods (studying and generalizing the experience of specialists working in educational organizations); experimental methods (observation, interviewing, pedagogical experiment, etc.). In addition, the article compares and discusses different domestic and foreign researchers' results on environmental education of preschool children and the ICT competence of teachers. The results of a study conducted on the basis of 10 preschool organizations in the Moscow region are presented and commented in detail. The research directions of the development of the problem of environmental education and ICT competence of teachers in the new digital media reality are presented. The results of the study allow us to find a solution to the pedagogical tasks of the innovative organization of environmental education of preschool children, taking into account the effective formation of the ICT competence of teachers; and also open up new vectors for the research in the context of systemic changes in education and digitalization.
