Thiohalomonadales ord. nov.

Abstract

Thi.o.ha.lo.mo.nad.al'es N.L. fem. n. Thiohalomonas , the type genus of the order; L. fem. pl. n. suff. ‐ ales ; N.L. fem. pl. n. Thiohalomonadales, the order of the genus Thiohalomonas . Proteobacteria / Gammaproteobacteria / Thiohalomonadales ord. nov. The order Thiohalomonadales includes chemolithoautotrophic bacteria utilizing various reduced inorganic sulfur compounds as energy source and either oxygen or NO x as the electron acceptors. CO 2 is assimilated via the Calvin–Benson–Bassham cycle. The order is a deeply branching member of the Gammaproteobacteria and currently comprises families Thiohalomonadaceae and Thiohalophilaceae . The order‐level status was established by phylogenomic analysis based on 120 single‐copy conserved protein markers. Type genus : Thiohalomonas Sorokin et al. 2007a VP .
