Introduction: Hypertension is a major public health problem in contemporary times and it has high prevalence throughout the world. Objective: To investigate the situation of Systemic Arterial Hypertension in schoolchildren aged 6 to 10 years in Divinópolis/MG-Brazil and associated factors.Method: This is a cross-sectional, epidemiological, descriptive and analytical study, whose population was children aged 6 to 10 years enrolled in public schools in Divinópolis-MG-Brazil. Data collection was conducted from October 2014 to May 2015. Multivariate linear regressions were used to test associations between blood pressure, socioeconomic, anthropometric, dietary and physical activity. Results:The prevalence of hypertension was 15.2% in a sample of 284 children and mean values of systolic blood pressure of 101.7 (±13.2) mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of 66.0 (±11.2) mmHg. The body fat percentage showed significant differences between the genders, with 24.2 and 26.2%, respectively for boys and girls. Significant associations were made between blood pressure levels, body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, body fat percentage, consumption of yogurt, beef /chicken, beans, pizza, sandwich and some behaviors variables. Conclusion:The presented data show important aspects of school profile in the age range 6-10 years, especially related to the behavior of blood pressure.

Summary Objective: To analyze the health care costs specifically related to cardiovascular diseases, which were spent by patients of a private healthcare provider in southern Brazil, after their diagnosis of cancer. Method: We developed an observational, cross-sectional, retrospective study, with a qualitative-quantitative strategy, through the activity of analytical internal audit of medical accounts. Results: 860 accounts from 2012 to 2015 were analyzed, 73% referred to female users, with average age of 62.38 years, and a total direct cost of BRL 241,103.72. There was prevalence of 37% of breast cancer, 15% of prostate cancer and 9% of colon cancer. In relation to the cardiovascular care, 44% were consultations, 44% were complementary exams, 10% were emergency care, and 3% were hospitalizations. Regarding the health care costs with cardiovascular services, higher costs were in hospitalizations (51%), followed by complementary exams (37%), consultations (8%) and emergency care (4%). Conclusion: The cancer survivors commonly use health care in other specialties such as cardiology, and the main cost refers to hospitalization. It is recommended to invest in prevention (consultation and complementary exam) as well as in programs of chronic disease management to reduce costs and improve the quality of health care.

Uso clínico do strain rate na ecocardiografia sob estresse em paciente assintomática com fatores de risco para doença cardiovascular: relato de caso RESUMO O ecodopplercardiograma transtorácico é um exame de imagem de ampla aplicabilidade clínica que, apesar do requerimento de grande experiência do operador e de possibilidade de janelas acústicas ruins, permite a obtenção de muitas informações de maneira não invasiva, sem riscos de ionização para o paciente, com baixo custo. Quando realizado sob estresse físico ou farmacológico, torna-se uma opção com apropriada acurácia diagnóstica para investigação de isquemia miocárdica. Dentre os recursos disponíveis, o strain rate tem se mostrado útil na detecção de alterações incipientes da função sistólica segmentar, inclusive em pacientes portadores de hipertensão arterial sistêmica e doença arterial coronária. O presente trabalho demonstra o caso de uma paciente do gênero feminino assintomática que, após a submissão ao ecodopplercardiograma sob estresse farmacológico, apresentou hipertrofia do ventrículo esquerdo e strain rate alterado, mesmo sem alterações segmentares de motilidade miocárdica. Palavras-chave: ecocardiografia doppler; ecocardiografia sob estresse; doença de artéria coronariana; hipertensão; isquemia miocárdica; fatores de risco. ABSTRACTThe transthoracic Doppler echocardiography is an image exam of broad clinical applicability that, despite the requirement of great experience of the operator and the possibility of poor acoustic windows, allows the collection of a lot of information non-invasively, without ionization risks to the patient, with low cost. When performed under physical or pharmacological stress, it is an option with appropriate diagnostic accuracy for myocardial ischemia screening. Among the available resources, strain rate has proven to be useful for detecting incipient changes in segmental systolic function, including patients with systemic arterial hypertension and coronary artery disease. This work demonstrates the case of an asymptomatic female patient that, after submission to Doppler echocardiography under pharmacological stress, showed left ventricular hypertrophy and strain rate changes, even without segmental changes of myocardial motility.
