Previous studies demonstrated echocardiographically that the time to the onset of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy was 8 weeks ( 9 ) while the left ventricular free wall and septal wall dimensions increased from 13 to 46 days after the commencement of therapy ( 5 ) and that significant changes occurred earlier than in the present study.
