“…The prevalence of contact sensitization to fragrance chemicals, such as balsam of Peru, has been shown to be higher in patients with AD than controls (8). It is also known that balsam of Peru can crossreact with other balsam derivatives such as balsam of pine-which is an ingredient in a topical treatment commonly used for pediatric scalp dermatitis (Derma-Smoothe oil) (9).
