“…They coincide with outcrop numbers 89101 and 9706 of Tolmacheva et al (2001Tolmacheva et al ( , 2004 who studied conodont biostratigraphy in detail. Tolmacheva et al (2014) combined the two sections and named it the Pamyatonic Prirody section, but these two sections are described individually in the current study. The chert, named as the Burubaital Formation (Tolmacheva et al, 2001(Tolmacheva et al, , 2004, occurs as a block in a tectonic m elange named as either the Burultas or the Buruntau Tectonofacies Belt (Holmer et al, 2001).…”

“…This speculation can also be applied to the case of the Darriwilian chert breccia in Kazakhstan, although fragments of basic volcanic material have yet to be discovered. Tolmacheva et al (2014) found 'siliceous sandstone' beds that consist of conodont elements in the lower Tremadocian and Dapingian chert of the Baritovyi Kar'er section and speculated that the conodont elements had been washed out from a topographic high. The age and the constituents of the chert breccia at locality 9706 are different from the 'siliceous sandstone', but it is reasonable to assume that there was also a topographic high located near the depositional basin of radiolarian chert of locality 9706, and that numerous down-flow current events occurring during this time frame could have delivered siliceous material to the site.…”
