“…This suggested that • OH-induced cytochrome c release and ROS generation in fish erythrocytes. This is consistent with the report that H 2 O 2 induces cytochrome c release in HeLa cells [36] and ROS production in rat neuronal cells [78]. The cytochrome c release and ROS generation may be related to mitochondrion in fish erythrocytes.…”

“…We have detected cleaved caspase‐3, caspase‐6, and, caspase‐7 in the H 2 O 2 ‐treated cells, but found antiapoptotic effects of Cheongja#3 by the rescued cleaved caspases. Mitogen‐activated protein kinase pathway, especially phosphorylated p38 and JNK, is en route to apoptosis in response to environmental stress such as ROS (Chen, Liu, Yin, Luo, & Huang, 2009; Sui et al., 2014). Phosphorylated JNK and phosphorylated p38 protein expressions were increased upon treatment of H 2 O 2 as other studies have shown.…”

“…The data from other groups (Kim et al, 2005) suggested that ROS activation of the mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascades might be a common mechanism by which oxidative stress induces cell death. Chen et al (2009) identified that oxidative stress activates the MAPK pathway by induction of ROS and inhibition of PP 2A leading to apoptosis of neuronal cells. MC-RR can strongly inhibit PP 1 and PP 2A (Gehringer, 2004).…”
