Hydrodynamic trade-offs in potential swimming efficiency of planispiral ammonoids

Abstract: Ammonoid cephalopods were Earth's most abundant oceanic carnivores for hundreds of millions of years, yet their probable range of swimming capabilities is poorly constrained.
