“…Several mixtures of enzymes and chemicals were tested on human head and neck tumor specimens in order to achieve complete squamous cell dispersion and to gain more knowledge on the specific cell types dispersed. This could lead to a better understanding of the poor growth of tumor cells in soft agar using primary suspensions (3,4,6). It could also resolve the controversy concerning the clinical correlations which emerged from the comparison of clinical data and data obtained after the use of in vitro culture techniques (7,111. "he dispersal of tumor tissue by means of either mechanical, enzymatic, chemical, or a combination of these three methods still remains a very important and critical first step.…”

“…A recording in the area mode measures the area of the fluorescence pulse, while in peak mode the peak height of the pulse is recorded. Clumps of two G 011 cells [4] have twice the area but the same peak height as a single G o/l cell [1 and 21. In this way Go/l clumps [4] are discriminated from G2/M and tetraploid G1 cells (31.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Colony formation in semi-solid or viscous medium has been widely used to estimate the fraction of clonogenic cells in tumors and to investigate the sensitivity of these stem cells to chemotherapeutic drugs or radiation for correlation to the outcome of treatment in the corresponding patients (Mann et al, 1982;Salmon, 1984;Von Hoff et al, 1983;Mattox et al, 1983). Clonogenic assays have also been used to test combinations of drugs and radiation (Twentyman et al, 1984) and have been thought to be potentially useful for drug screening (Ludwig et al, 1984;Lieber, 1984;Issell et al, 1984).…”
