“…The paper by Aroni et al [1] comes to conclusions similar to those of Marks and Harcourt-Webster [5], i.e. the commonest histological finding in their study of 73 patients with rosacea was of solar elastosis and dilated vascular channels with a predominantly perivascular lymphohistiocytic inflammatory infiltrate.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Particularly in the early stage of rosacea fulminans and papulopustular rosacea, massive infiltration of neutrophil granulocytes, similar to that found in Sweet’s syndrome, may be observed 1,2,7 . In contrast, an infiltrate in the form of epithelioid cell granulomas is found in older lesions 1,7 …”

“…Depending on the stage and type of the disease, the histological picture of rosacea fulminans can differ from the characteristic perivascular infiltration of ‘common’ rosacea 2 . In contrast, an infiltrate in the form of epithelioid cell granulomas is found in older lesions 1,7 …”

“…10 In other studies, the mite was reported in small percentages of cases. Ramelet and Perroulaz 25 found mites in only 2 of 75 rosacea patients, and Marks and Harcourt‐Webster 26 detected mites in 14 of 74 PPR patients. These investigators are suspicious of the pathogenic role of Demodex because they found little or no local inflammation around the infested follicles and no penetration of mites into the dermis.…”
