“…In other studies conducted in HCC cell lines, cimetidine disrupted the epidermal growth factor (EGF)-induced autophosphorylation of EGF receptors and its downstream effectors by reducing the cAMP concentration, resulting in suppression of EGF-induced proliferation and migration [170]. In agreement with these preclinical studies, clinical trials using H2R antagonists (ranitidine and cimetidine) showed significant increases in OS when they were used as an adjuvant treatment for patients undergoing curative resection of CRC [159,171] or head and neck squamous cell carcinoma [172].
