“…The mean LV mass (LVM) indexed by BSA in the subsample of healthy individuals (20 men and 20 women, mean age = 48 yrs) was 57 and 42 g/m 2 , respectively, which are quite discordant values in comparison to the international literature [16][17][18][19] . However, these measurements are similar to the findings of Ghorayeb et al 22 , who reported a mean LVM of 57 g/m 2 in a sample of 30 normal men evaluated by CMR.…”

“…Additionally, our data suggest that the values of cardiac mass measured in our population through CMR 22 can be underestimating the actual mass of the organ between 24% and 60% in comparison to the LVM estimated by CMR reported in international studies [16][17][18][19] . When we compare the mean LVM estimated by CMR with those obtained at the necropsy, this underestimation reaches even higher values.…”

“…This cardiac adaptation may provide increased efficiency of the cardiovascular system, increasing the supply of oxygen to muscles during effort. 31,32 However, it can be speculated that the relative weight of the heart is higher because trained animals present a lower body mass.…”

“…Halle et al 20 demonstraram que quanto melhor a aptidão física e menor o índice de massa corporal, há uma tendência de que as concentrações de lipídeos sanguíneos sejam favoráveis. Pitanga 19 encontrou correlações estatisticamente significativas entre a prática de exercícios físicos e as concentrações de HDL.…”
