Highly Mesoporous g-C3N4 with Uniform Pore Size Distribution via the Template-Free Method to Enhanced Solar-Driven Tetracycline Degradation

Abstract: A highly mesoporous graphitic carbon nitride g-C3N4 (GCN) has been produced by a template-free method and effectively photodegrade tetracycline (TC) antibiotic under solar light irradiation. The mesoporous GCN (GCN-500) greatly improves the photoactivity (0.0247 min−1) by 2.13 times, as compared to that of bulk GCN (0.0116 min−1). The efficiently strengthened photoactivity is ascribed to the high porosity (117.05 m2/g), and improves the optical absorption under visible light (Eg = 2.65 eV) and good charge carr… Show more

“…In case of bulk g-C3N4, flat, aggregated and non-porous flakes were observed while for exfoliated ones, thinner layers with rough surface and layered detachments were found with increasing exfoliation temperature as shown in figure 4b-d. There were similar reports in the literature for the exfoliated ones 54,55 . The EDAX analysis confirmed the presence of C and N and their respective percentages as shown in figure S2.…”

“…S3 ). Information is well presented on the type IV isotherm and H3 residual loops (P/P0 < 0.98), which are associated with slit-like pores resulting from the stacking state of the nanosheets 22 , 51 . In addition, the obtained isotherms of the non-metal-doped samples shifted toward higher volume compared with CN, proposing that using AO in polycondensation of Melamine presumably led to producing more exhaust gases that concluded to enhancing S BET and the mesopore nature.…”
