Highly Luminescent and Stable Perovskite Nanocrystals with Octylphosphonic Acid as a Ligand for Efficient Light-Emitting Diodes

Abstract: All inorganic perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) of CsPbX (X = Cl, Br, I, or their mixture) are regarded as promising candidates for high-performance light-emitting diode (LED) owing to their high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield (QY) and easy synthetic process. However, CsPbX NCs synthesized by the existing methods, where oleic acid (OA) and oleylamine (OLA) are generally used as surface-chelating ligands, suffer from poor stability due to the ligand loss, which drastically deteriorates their PL QY, as well as… Show more

“…Tan et al proposed that it could dramatically enhance the CsPbX 3 stability and preserve their high PL QY (>90%) by using octylphosphonic acid (OPA) to replace the OA/OLA ligands, which is shown Figure d. Meanwhile, Figure e shows the EQE of modified LED was improved from 0.86% to 6.5% after multiple purification processes . Hence, It is critical to choose appropriate washing solvent and surface passivators for IHP NCs to keep their high QY, device performance, and stability …”

“…Although most early research studies were focused on bulk thin film perovskites, very recently there has been a growing interest in exploring perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) for various applications due to their enhanced stability in the presence of ligands . Several studies have already shown that perovskite NCs possess great potential for solution‐processable photovoltaic devices under ambient atmosphere due to their high environmental and thermodynamic stabilities .…”

“…[11] Therefore, it is ap rimary concernt os earch for as ystem with high quantum yield withoutc ompromising stability. [15] Thus, capping is one of the most efficient ways to enhance thes tability of perovskite NCs in the solution [16][17][18] Oleic acid (OA) and oleylamine( OAm) are popular capping agentsr eported in the literature for the synthesis of such perovskite NCs. Properties of Bi-doped Pb halide NCs have been explored recently by somer esearch groups.…”
