Highlights from the 1st ISCB Latin American Student Council Symposium 2014

Abstract

This report summarizes the scientific content and activities of the first edition of the Latin American Symposium organized by the Student Council of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB), held in conjunction with the Third Latin American conference from the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB-LA 2014) in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on October 27, 2014.

Second ISCB Latin American Student Council Symposium (LA-SCS) 2016

“…Two years later, with five RSGs in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Colombia, and an extended network of collaborations through virtual channels, the horizons for this new edition were quite promising. As we envisioned in the highlights from the first LA-SCS 10 , many challenges appeared but thanks to the previous experience and the support of excellent regional collaborators, we were able to overcome most of them and minimize the impact of those that were out of our control. We have learned invaluable lessons from the successful decisions but maybe even more, from our mistakes 13 .…”
