Abstract:We investigate the phase transition of URu2Si 2 at To = 17.5 K by thermal expansion and heat capacity in magnetic fields, H, up to 25 T. At To an energy gap of A ~-115 K opens, which decreases to 65 K in 25 T. The H dependence of To scales with A, whereas a different H dependence and energy scale was observed for the ordered dipole moment. The anomalous H dependence of the thermal expansion coefficients may discriminate between the various scenarios for the primary order parameter of URu2Si2.
scite is a Brooklyn-based startup that helps researchers better discover and evaluate scientific articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by researchers from dozens of countries and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
