High expression of UBE2C is associated with the aggressive progression and poor outcome of malignant glioma

Abstract: Abstract. Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2C (UBE2C) is a key regulator of cell cycle progression and is involved in the tumorigenesis of a variety of cancers. Previous studies have demonstrated that UBE2C is an important factor in the malignant progression of astrocytic tumors. However, the association between UBE2C expression and clinical prognosis of glioma patients has not been defined. In the present study, the expression of UBE2C in gliomas and non-cancerous brain tissues were detected by microarray and im… Show more

“…This ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme is an important regulator in cell cycle progression, and overexpression has been associated with progression of malignant gliomas. 38 There is a substantial amount of LD in Hispanics between SNPs within 50KB of UBE2C , including SNPs in WFDC3, DNTTIP1 , TNNC2 , SNX21 , ACOT8 , and ZSWIM3 . WFDC3 functions as a protease inhibitor, and notably, both protein degradation though ubiquitination and protease inhibition are represented among neurodegenerative diseases.…”

“…Gliomas are malignant tumors with the highest morbidity and mortality rate, and their highly aggressive and invasive nature contributes to poor prognoses in patients. In recent years, the prevalence of gliomas has increased [ 1 2 ]. Despite ongoing research, the mechanisms of gliomagenesis and glioma morbidity remain unclear.…”

“…As we know that, ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2C (UBE2C) is a key regulator of cell cycle progression. High expression of UBE2C is associated with aggressive progression and poor outcome of malignant glioma, 21 and UBE2C has been identified as a prognostic protein marker in bladder cancer. 22 Moreover, UBE2C, DLGAP5, and TPX2 are associated with the progression and prognosis of pancreatic carcinoma.…”
