Abstract: We discuss smooth differentiable structures on Euclidean R 4 , which are not diffeomorphic to the standard R 4 , as the source for magnetic field in spacetime in 4 dimensions. If they were diffeomorphic, no such sources would appear. Such possibility for the magnetic sources was first indicated in [2,6,7] (cf. [1]) based on the formal, but rather deep, coincidence between Godbillon-Vey classes of certain foliations and the magnetic charges emerging in 4-spacetime.
