“…This patient demonstrated the classical picture of hyperkeratosis foUicularis and presented many of the features previously recorded when Kaposi's varicelliform eruption is superimposed on this disease. The primary infection with herpes simplex virus, confirmed by virus isolation and serology, was accompanied by a profound constitutional disturbance as was seen in the patients observed by von Weiss and his colleagues (1965) and by Izumi & Goldschmidt (1970). The dramatic response to cytosine arabinoside confirmed the reports of the beneficial effect of this compound in herpes simplex infections (Chow, Foerster & Hryniuk, 1970;Juel-Jensen, 1970).…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Most cases occur in the presence of atopic eczema and in children, but it may occur with other chronic dermatitis [McNair Scott, 1971], and in atopic subjects without active skin disease. Patients with Darier's disease [Izumi and Goldschmidt, 1970], pemphigus foliaceus [Silverstein and Burnett, 1967], ichthyosiform erythroderma [Fitzgerald and Booker, 1951] and dominant ichthyosis vulgaris [ Verhov et al, 1972] may also be affected. There are many points of particular interest in this patient.…”

“…It has been reported that the lesions of Darier's disease improved on the virus infected areas after eczema herpeticum (Bleiberg & Kiosk, 1951;Hitselberger & Burns, 1961;von Weiss et al, 1965;Doeglas& Moolhuysen, 1969;Izumi& Goldsmith, 1970) and eczema vaccinatum (Gerstein & Shelley,i960). This interesting phenomenon was observed also in the present patients.…”
