“…The study area is characterized by shallow depth to the basement surface where the sedimentary cover ranges from (1 to 4 km) this led to the Curie point depth in the study area is not deep but considered as a shallow or intermediate region with depths ranges between 14 and 26 km in the southern part of the study area. This region is characterized by shallow earthquake depths and shallow Curie point depth about 16-18 km and high heat flow (112 mW/m 2 where this heat flow is the primary observable parameter in the geothermal exploration and high heat flow is corresponding to volcanic and metamorphic regions since these two units have high heat conductivities (Nwankwo et al, 2011). Generally, the shallow depths to Curie isotherm and the shallow earthquakes depths indicate that Eastern shore of the Gulf of Suez is a promising area for further geothermal exploration.…”

“…The plots of the logarithms of the energy spectra (Log E) against the domain frequencies were made. The gradients ( and ) of two linear segments drawn from each graph were used to estimate the centroid depth ( ), the depth to top boundary (Z ), Curie point depth ( ), geothermal gradient ( ) and heat flow (q) using the relations shown in equations 3 -7 respectively [16][17][18][19]8]:…”

“…The Nigerian sector of Chad basin has been identified to have high prospect for geothermal energy [3][4]. But only few works have investigated geothermal parameters in the Nigerian sector of Chad basin [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. In addition, these works used data from oil wells.…”

“…These problems include: provision of the third dimension to surface mapping and sampling, delineation of structures and alteration under a cover of overburden or water, geothermal exploration, research on radioactive heat, hydrocarbon survey, magnetic and radiometric minerals investigation using cost effective airborne measurements. Recent works by Nwankwo et al [20] and Nwankwo et al [21] have shown great potential for geothermal heat flow in the Bida basin. Hence, this study involves the interpretation of aeromagnetic and aeroradiometric data so as to determine the geothermal heat flow and radioactive heat features of the study area.…”
