“…The magnetization reversal (MR) has also been observed in some orthovanadate R E VO 3 . 11 The replacement of La 3+ in LaCoO 3 by Sr 2+ has resulted in the existence of "glassy ferromagnetism." 12 Here, we investigate the magnetic properties of SmCoAsO (SCAO) as a new correlated electron system.…”

“…In practice, neutron diffraction studies reveal that the magnitudes of DM interaction and the single-ion anisotropy are largely different from those expected in the model based on the competing single-ion anisotropy and DM interaction and also no ferrimagnetic moment exists [13]. Recently, Tung et al argued that the apparent diamagnetism observed in RVO 3 can be attributed to inhomogeneities caused by a small amount of defects in the orbital sector in the quasi-onedimensional orbital system [14]. Their argument was based on a Paduan-Filho et al's work on the quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnet with nonmagnetic impurities, where an apparent diamagnetism was also observed [15].…”

“…Single crystals of RVO 3 (R = Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, and Er) were prepared and checked following the procedure that is thoroughly explained in [4]. Slabs of plane parallel faces were then prepared with thicknesses ranging between 500 and 535 µm for our measurements.…”

“…Everything started with the study of anomalous diamagnetism in LaVO 3 [1] followed by the discovery of a magnetization reversal phenomena in several compounds of the family [2][3][4] and the more recent finding of multiferroic properties [5]. A wide variety of studies on the crystallographic and magnetic properties have been developed for samples with different rare earth ions showing the similarities and, specially, the variety of the interactions and their couplings depending on the particular ion.…”
