This study aimed to perform economic analysis and evaluate the effect of technological parameters on plant and ratoon sugarcane under irrigation depths for ethanol production. Treatments were irrigation of 30, 60, 90, and 120% of ET c and a control treatment (no irrigation). The experimental design was a randomized block with six repetitions. We used a drip irrigation system with management based on crop evapotranspiration, according to the methodology proposed by FAO. In rainfed and under irrigation plant cane, the variable cost represented 54.40 and 66.81% and the fixed cost represented 45.60 and 33.19%, respectively. The difference in the cost of production in rainfed and irrigated was 27.23 and 57.20%, for the plant cane and ratoon, respectively. Moreover, we presented the economic viability, which for sugarcane grown in rainfed is 60% of ET c , with differences in the cost of production and net profit of 53.94 and 52.20%, and financial return in the year of implementation and 4 years and 4 months, respectively. The irrigation increased technological parameters for ethanol production. For plant cane, the only variable that showed no statistically significant difference was the fiber, and for ratoon cane the technological parameters did not have statistically significant difference.

ABSTRACT:The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of distinct levels of salinity on the evapotranspiration of the RB867515, RB855453, RB92579 and RB928064 sugarcane cultivars. The evapotranspiration was monitored during daytime period under meteorological conditions influenced, mainly by cloud variations. The salinity values were established by addition of 0, 50, 100 and 150 mM of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) to the nutrient solution, which was applied by fertigation, in such way that the electrical conductivity (EC) of the leached solution was near 3, 6, 10 and 13 dS m -1 , respectively. The increase of the NaCl concentration in the nutrient solution affected, significantly and in a linear manner, the evapotranspiration of all sugarcane cultivars, such that the days with low cloud provided the highest evapotranspiration values and the greater reduction among salinity levels. Analysis of the evapotranspiration accumulated during the daytime period showed that there were no significant differences among sugarcane cultivars and that, under the highest atmospheric water demand, the evapotranspiration decreased 48.5 g plant -1 EC -1 . This value represents the average reduction of 5.1% EC -1 when compared to the treatment without NaCl, considering data of all cultivars.

Reuse of brackish water from desalination units in agriculture will reduce the environmental impacts resulting from disposal in the soil and groundwater, thus reflecting positively in reducing costs. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of reusing brackish water from a small water desalination unit as amended to morphology and productivity of salvia plants during the three growing seasons of 2014-2016. Brackish water from desalination treatment plants was used in hydroponic systems with three concentrations (10, 25 and 50 mM). Growth parameters (number of branches per plant, plant height (cm) and herbage yield weights (g m 2 )) and ion concentration percentage in the herbage of sage (Salvia officinalis L.) during three growing seasons 2014-2016 were measured. Results revealed that lateral branches per plant, plant height and dry weight of herbage were negatively affected by brackish water and decreased by 6, 8 and 10%, respectively, compared to control. In addition, the concentration of ions in herbage decreased by 35 and 20% for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, respectively. We conclude from this study that irrigating sage plants using rejected water from desalination plant units leads to a decrease in morphological characteristics compared to nonsaline water, but as an economic option this type of water can be used in agriculture to reduce the environmental impacts of disposal of this water.brackish water, ion concentration, morphology, sage plants Résumé La réutilisation de l'eau saumâtre des unités de dessalement dans l'agriculture réduira les impacts environnementaux résultant de l'élimination dans le sol et les eaux souterraines, ce qui se traduira positivement sur la réduction des coûts.
