“…Our results suggest that GHRH preferentially stimulates the secretion of a particular form of hGH, bet ter recognized by the antibodies in the cismono kit. While these data are different from some reported for adults [18], they are consistent with the results published by oth er authors who concluded after comparing hGH values measured by means of RIA and RRA that there may exist stimulus-specific forms of hGH [13,19,20], particularly after GHRH stimulation [13].…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…LaFranchi et al [45] reported on 48 children with short stature and they failed to find any discrepancy between the GH levels measured by RIA and those determined by RRA. Similarly, Tokuhiro et al [46] stud ied 25 short children and did not find any abnormal RRA/RIA ratio.…”

“…A decrease in RRA/RIA ratio was also reported by LaFranchi ct al. [45] following both L-Dopa and arginine administration. This may reflect heterogeneity in the circulating forms of GH after stimulation with pharmacological agents other than GRF.…”

“…Several groups including ours have published reports comparing GH immunoreactivity and bioactivity in children with short stature [42,[44][45][46], We studied [42] a very large group of children (19 healthy control sub jects and 114 patients with various growth disturbances). using the IM-9 lymphocytes RRA and 125I-labeled hu man GH purified by high-performance liquid chroma tography [47], A total of 1,065 samples from 147 stimu lation tests with either insulin, glucagon or GRF were analyzed, and the results compared with those obtained with a classical double antibody RIA using a polyclonal antiserum.…”

“…First, the specific binding sites for hGH on tumor cell (IM-9 lymphoblast) or liver microsomal fraction from other species (rabbit or rat) may not recognize the somatotropic site of the hGH molecules. Second, malnutrition or chronic diseases may result in a decreased RRA/RIA ratio of hGH (10). Third, RRA/RIA ratio of hGH is not always low in patients with bioinactive hGH [ 9 ] , which is probably due to the heterogeneity of bioinactive hGH.…”
