Groundwater Quality Assessment Based on Geographical Information System and Groundwater Quality Index

Abstract: Iran is located in an arid and semi-arid part of the world. Accordingly, the management of the water resources in the country is a priority. In this regard, determining the quality and pollution of surface water and groundwater is very important, especially in areas where groundwater resources are used for drinking. Groundwater quality index (GQI) checks the components of the available water with various quality levels. To assess the quality of drinking groundwater of Yazd-Ardakan plain according to GQI in geo… Show more

“…However, the extents to which a single data point is interpolated is not clear and as such many researchers have used points greater than 30 but within a bigger spatial area with single point interpolated more than a distance of 3km. For example, Derakhshan et al (2015) assessed the groundwater quality of Yazd-Ardakan plain with an area of 4117 km2 using GIS and GQI with 80 samples from the wells. Shawgar et al (2017), also assessed and modelled the groundwater hydrogeological quality parameters via Geostatistical approaches in southeast of Tehran, Iran, with an area of 1535 km 2 using 78 well samples.…”
