Abstract: The Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) presents a number of awards each year. One of the awards is for the best single issue of a journal. The November 15 issue of Geophysical Research Letters won that distinction for 1997. The issue contained groups of papers on three important subjects: record low levels of ozone in the Arctic last spring, Indian Ocean circulation, and the corona's influence on solar wind acceleration.
