Green synthesis of silver, iron and gold nanoparticles of lycopene extracted from tomato: their characterization and cytotoxicity against COLO320DM, HT29 and Hella cell

Abstract: Our study aimed at development of Silver, Iron and Gold nanoparticles of Lycopene isolated from tomato by using green synthesis technique and to evaluate its anticancer potential against colorectal and cervical cancer. Lycopene was extracted by benzene extraction method and the silver, iron and gold nanoparticles were developed by green synthesis method. 1% aqueous extract of isolated Lycopene was mixed with 1% solutions of AgNO3, FeCl3 and HAuCl4 solutions and incubated at ambient temperature for 3–4 h separa… Show more

“…The LCP shows characteristic stretching vibrations of the CC bond at 1630 cm −1 . [27] When mixing PbI 2 with LCP, the vibration signal of CC is weakened and shifts to a higher wavenumber (12 nm) demonstrating the Lewis acid-base interaction between PbI 2 and LCP, which is in correspondence with the UV-vis absorption results. The new vibration at 707 cm −1 derives from R 2 CCR bonds in LCP [27] and the CI bond at 671 cm −1 was observed when mixing PbI 2 with LCP.…”

“…[ 27 ] When mixing PbI 2 with LCP, the vibration signal of CC is weakened and shifts to a higher wavenumber (12 nm) demonstrating the Lewis acid–base interaction between PbI 2 and LCP, which is in correspondence with the UV–vis absorption results. The new vibration at 707 cm −1 derives from R 2 CCR bonds in LCP [ 27 ] and the CI bond at 671 cm −1 was observed when mixing PbI 2 with LCP. The CI characteristic peak ( 1 H located at 4.07 ppm) is also observed in the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy as shown in Figure S6 (Supporting Information).…”

“…Further studies may be needed by other researchers. In addition, cell-dependent cytotoxicity is a particular characteristic of nanomaterials, which has been earlier reported for HT29 and HeLa [19], MCF-7 [20], and A459 [21] cancer cells. The programmed cell death occurred via apoptosis as indicated by the intrinsic and extrinsic pathways [22].…”
