Green Synthesis of Ni@PEDOT and Ni@PEDOT/Au (Core@Shell) Inverse Opals for Simultaneous Detection of Ascorbic Acid, Dopamine, and Uric Acid

Abstract: We demonstrate a water-based synthetic route to fabricate composite inverse opals for simultaneous detection of ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), and uric acid (UA). Our process involves the conformal deposition of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) and PEDOT/Au on the skeletons of Ni inverse opals via cyclic voltammetric scans (CV) to initiate the electropolymerization of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) monomers. The resulting samples, Ni@PEDOT, and Ni@PEDOT/Au inverse opals, exhibit a three-dimensio… Show more

“…XPS was carried out to further evaluate the element composition information of CNT@CoS/NiCo-LDH (Figure 6). Figure 6b shows that Ni 2p has two strong diffraction peaks at Ni 2p 1/2 (873.8 eV) and Ni 2p 3/2 (856.2 eV) [31], with two vibration satellite peaks at 861.5 and 880.2 eV, indicating the existence of Ni 2+ in the sample. As depicted in Figure 6c, the Co 2p XPS spectrum is divided into two main diffraction peaks located at 780.8 and 796.8 eV, which can be assigned to Co2p 1/2 and Co2p 3/2 , respectively [32], and proved the successful synthesis of NiCo-LDH.…”

“…Some of these are clinical diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and agricultural applications. Among them, the most recent field of biochemical detection is clinical diagnostics tests, where precise measurement of different biochemicals associated with human physiological processes is always essential to help keep our bodies fit and healthy. , Pharmaceutical application is another important sector involving various types of medicines, vitamins, and drugs for preventing and curing several diseases, where accurate measurements and detection of different reagents are required to obtain the best results . One of the serious problems in recent years has been environmental pollution due to the addition of different toxic pollutants into natural water resources or air.…”

“…Unfortunately, AA, DA and UA have similar oxidation potentials on most bare electrodes so further surface treatments and/or modifiers are typically necessary to resolve three peaks. In the past, this has been accomplished using metallic nanomaterials, [11][12][13][14] carbon nanomaterials, [11,[14][15][16][17][18][19][20] ionic liquids, [19,21] conducting polymers, [22][23][24][25] and porous materials. [26,27] Although effective at resolving the three oxidation peaks, surface modification introduces additional expense and complexity for sensor preparation.…”
