Gravitational Fingering Due to Density Increase by Mixing at a Vertical Displacing Front in Porous Media

Abstract: CO 2 -improved oil recovery has been applied in petroleum production for many years. CO 2 injection has attracted increasing attention because it represents a possible solution for the reduction of the CO 2 concentration in the atmosphere to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve oil recovery. The density increase from CO 2 dissolution in oil creates an unstable high-density layer and leads to gravitational fingers, which may have a significant effect on the mixing and flow path. In this work, we modeled … Show more

“…Dance is a form of performing art in which the main means of expression is rhythmic movements accompanied by music [ 10 ]. It necessitates a good sense of movement control and balance, accurate timing and rhythm, a rich imagination, and high aesthetic quality because it involves complex sensory and cognitive processes.…”

“…Distribution of the Fluid Concentration in the Fingers. Wang et al 38 described the distribution of the fluid concentration in the fingers in visualization experiments, which can evaluate the degree of convective mixing. The concentration of fluid has a linear dependence on the intensity of the gray images.…”
