“…The time of presentation and clinical findings as well as histopathological findings in our patient were comparable to those of the 12 above reported cases. Fortunately, our case did not evolve to scleromyxoedema as in the patient reported by Rongioletti et al 7 …”

“…Some patients also had skin test positivity for either one or both the injectable HA preparations and had positive antibodies against Hylaform and/or Restylane at serum analysis. A granulomatous reaction, which occurred after the first intradermal injection of Restylane gel, was observed by Rongioletti et al 7 . followed by scleromyxoedematous lesions on the patient's trunk and extremities.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…In general, because it does not elicit clinically significant inflammatory, immunological, or foreign body reactions, no special skin testing for allergy is recommended. However, several reports have described undesirable side-effects consisting of granulomatous reactions (3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8). In our case, oral prednisolone was effective for suppressing the granulomatous reaction associated with massive infiltration of eosinophils.…”

“…However, a big limitation of this study is most of the patients were on therapy at the time of blood collection which may have altered relevant biological signals. There have also been two cases of scleromyxedema that developed after breast silicone implantation and injections of dermal fillers including hyaluronic acid, suggesting the disease can be triggered by adjuvants 13,14 . Our patient may have improved with bortezomib and lenalidomide therapy as both are speculated to have immunomodulatory properties in addition to addressing plasma cell clones 15,16 .…”
