Germinação in vitro e desenvolvimento pós-seminal de plântulas de Pilosocereus aurisetus (Werderm.) Byles & G.D. Rowley (Cactaceae)

Abstract: In vitro germination and post-seminal development of plantlets of Pilosocereus aurisetus (Werderm.) Byles & G.D. Rowley (Cactaceae)Pilosocereus aurisetus is a species of cactus of economic and environmental importance, but the predatory exploitation led the species to be listed as threatened with extinction. P. aurisetus propagation occurs mainly in natural environment by sexual reproduction, though there is no record of germination, viability and morphology of postseminal seeds of this species. Thus, the obje… Show more

“…1E). Similar results were obtained by Reis et al (2012) in a study of the in vitro germination and post-seminal development of Pilosocereus aurisetus (kappa-la-lapa) seedlings, in which the development of the seedling followed a sequence similar to that observed in M. sergipensis. Germination began on the seventh day after inoculation, after which a translucent seedling emerged (Fig.…”

“…Germination rates were 82% in treatment 1 and 92% in treatment 2 (seeds soaked in GA 3 ), which were similar to that of the control (86%), which indicates that the pre-soaking of the seeds, whether in water or GA 3 , did not affect germination rates under the experimental conditions adopted in the present study. Reis et al (2012) obtained similar results in a study of Pilosocereus aurisetus, although germination rates did not exceed 80% in either the control group or the seeds soaked for 24 hours. In a study of the germination of Melocactus bahiensis in different substrates and at distinct temperatures, by contrast, Lone et al (2009) obtained low germination rates of between 45% and 48%, values approximately half those recorded in the present study.…”

“…Acarez-Melandez et al, (1994) (CALDAS, 1998). A germinação in vitro tem sido utilizada para germinar sementes de espécies nativas com baixas porcentagens de germinação o que tem possibilitado o maior sucesso na obtenção de mudas (PÊGO et al, 2015, REIS et al, 2012.…”
