Genomic characterization of fourEscherichia colistrains isolated from oral lichen planus biopsies

Abstract: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic T cell-mediated inflammatory disease that affects the mucus membrane of the oral cavity. We previously proposed a potential role of intracellular bacteria detected within OLP lesions in the pathogenesis of OLP and isolated four Escherichia coli strains from OLP tissues that were phylogenetically close to K-12 MG1655 strain. We sequenced the genomes of the four OLP-isolated E. coli strains and generated 6.71 Gbp of Illumina MiSeq data (166-195x coverage per strain). The siz… Show more

“…The researchers also discovered that when the relative abundance of most flora in OLP tissue declined, the relative abundance of the E. coli K12 strain grew dramatically. Furthermore, researchers [17] discovered 368 different types of virulence factors (VFS) from OLP patients' E. coli strains. It was discovered by detection that a variety of VFS can assist in bacteria invasion and colonization.…”

“…P. aeruginosa is a Gram-negative rod-shaped microorganism that is pathogenic to humans, animals, and plants (Diggle & Whiteley 2020). E. coli is anaerobic, single straight rodshaped bacteria, can be motile or nonmotile and have the ability of both a respiratory metabolism and fermentation and do not produce the oxidase enzyme (Min et al 2021).…”
