Genetic Variations at Four Tetrameric Tandem Repeat Loci in Korean Population

Abstract: Allele and genotype frequencies for four tetrameric short tandem repeat (STR) loci, HumFES/FPS, HumFOLP23, HumGABRB15, and HumCYAR04, have been determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification and subsequent polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis from approximately 200 genetically unrelated Koreans. This method allows a single base pair resolution and rapid typing with silver staining. The allele and genotype distributions satisfy Hardy-Weinberg expectation. Also, these STR loci have proven to be useful… Show more

“…Allele frequency (%) is shown on the Y axis. The numbers under the bars represent core sequence repeats of each loci from expected values, which is consistent with the data of Park et al (1997), even though only 100 samples were tested. This phenomenon was probably due to the historical and genetical homogeneity of the Korean population.…”

“…DNA preparation and amplification were performed using the method described by Park et al (1997). The primer concentrations for each locus were 0.066 µM (D20S470), 0.132 µM (D13S325), 0.132 µM (HumFOLP23) and 0.264 µM (D10S2325).…”

“…DNA preparation and amplification were performed as described previously (Park et al 1997;Lee et al 1998). The primer concentrations for each locus were 2.15 µM for D18S1270, 0.3 µM for D14S608, 0.3 µM for D16S3235, and 0.25 µM for D21S1437 ( Table 1).…”
