Adakitic rocks with high MgO content and lower crust affinity at convergent margins provide important constraints on arc crust evolution and regional tectonics. An integrated study on the only adakitic pluton with high MgO content and its mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs) in the Early Paleozoic North Qinling arc terrane was conducted in this paper. Zircons from 2 host rock samples yielded identical weighted mean ages of 428 Ma. The MMEs contain two types of zircons: type 1 zircons share similar morphology, chemical composition, and indistinguishable age with those from the host rock; type 2 zircons yielded an older age of 450 Ma. The similarity in zircon Hf isotopic composition for these zircons indicates a cognate origin of the MMEs. However, the lower Ce4+/Ce3+, higher crystallization temperature and the LREE overabundance of type 2 zircons indicate that mafic intrusions in the lower arc crust were subjected to a post‐magmatic event at ∼450 Ma. Samples from the Tangzang pluton are characterized by typical adakitic geochemical features, and high MgO (Mg#: 50–52), Cr, Ni, and Ba contents. Considering their similar isotopic compositions with the Neoproterozoic metabasites in the North Qinling terrane, we argue that the Tangzang pluton was generated by crustal anatexis of two sources with contributions from the metasomatized mantle wedge. The mantle connection was achieved by aqueous melt‐fluxed melting of a “hot zone” in the lower arc crust. This implies that andesitic continental crust with Mg# of ∼0.5 may also be associated with fluxed‐melting of the lower arc crust.

The North Qinling Orogen underwent subduction and collision processes during the Palaeozoic, but the tectonic framework remains unclear. To investigate the tectonic evolution of the North Qinling Orogen, we selected the Devonian granites from the northeastern margin of the North Qinling Terrane. Integrated petrographic, geochemical, and geochronological studies, as well as Sr-Nd-Hf isotopic analyses, were carried out on the newly identified Devonian granites from the Hengjian area in the northeastern North Qinling Terrane, Qinling Orogenic Belt. Zircon laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry U-Pb dating reveals that these granites were crystallized at 396-387 Ma. The granite samples are metaluminous to weakly peraluminous (A/CNK = Al 2 O 3 /(CaO+Na 2 O+K 2 O) = 0.86 to 1.12), with high SiO 2 (60.6-76.5 wt%) and high total alkaline (Na 2 O + K 2 O = 8.45-11.0 wt%) contents. The granites are enriched in Th, rare-earth element, Zr, and Hf and depleted in Sr, Nb, Ta, P, Eu, and Ti. They are characterized by high Zr + Nb + Ce + Y contents (511-990 ppm) and 10,000*Ga/Al ratios (2.71-3.32), as well as high zircon-saturation temperatures (T Zr = 819-885 C, average = 845 C), which indicate that they are typical A-type granites. The granites have low Y/Nb (0.39-0.67) and Yb/Ta (0.56-0.83) ratios, resembling those of the A 1 -type granite, which indicates that they are formed in anorogenic settings. They also have low ( 87 Sr/ 86 Sr) i ratios (0.7055-0.7071) and negative ε Nd (t) values (À10.1 to À8.40) and variable zircon ε Hf (t) values (À8.46 to +14.7), with the two-stage model ages of 2.0-1.8 Ga and 1.9-0.4 Ga, respectively. These geological features suggest that the granites of the Hengjian area were most likely generated by partial melting of mafic lower crust induced by asthenospheric ascent. The A-type granites were generated in a continental rift environment during 396-387 Ma, corresponding to the closure of the Shangdan Ocean and the opening of the Palaeo-Tethyan Ocean during the Early Devonian.

The Dabie Orogen constitutes the eastern part of the Qinling‐Tongbai‐Hong'an‐Dabie orogenic belt, however, whether it has involved into the early Palaeozoic subduction–related event as well‐recorded in the western part is still in debate. This study provides new petrological, geochronological and geochemical data for the Beilou and Mafan plutons in the Dabie‐Hong'an orogens. The Beilou pluton is dominated by granite, some of which have been strongly deformed to form mylonites. The Beilou pluton was emplaced at ca. 490 and ca. 450 Ma, whereas the Mafan pluton was emplaced at 450–430 Ma. The whole‐rock major‐ and trace‐element analyses results indicate that both plutons are depleted in high‐field‐strength elements and heavy rare earth elements. The Beilou pluton also has positive whole‐rock εNd(t) values and generally positive zircon εHf(t) values, whereas all but one of the Mafan pluton samples yield positive whole‐rock εNd(t) and consistently positive zircon εHf(t) values. All of the samples have low (87Sr/86Sr)i ratios. These data indicate that these plutons are formed from magmas generated by the partial melting of metasomatized mantle wedge material with minor additions of crustal materials, representing arc magmatic rocks associated with subduction. Detailed detrital zircon dating of flysch sequences of the Foziling Group within the Dabie Orogen indicates that the early Palaeozoic magmatic rocks had once been distributed in the whole Orogen, although only the Beilou pluton now is exposed in the western Dabie Orogen.
