Generative Optimisation of Resilient Drone Logistic Networks

Abstract: This paper presents a novel approach to the generative design optimisation of a resilient Drone Logistic Network (DLN) for the delivery of medical equipment in Scotland. A DLN is a complex system composed of a high number of different classes of drones and ground infrastructures. The corresponding DLN model is composed of a number of interconnected digital twins of each one of these infrastructures and vehicles, forming a single digital twin of the whole logistic network. The paper proposes a multi-agent bio-in… Show more

“…Research in this area focused on optimising the location, number, and distribution of UAV bases and developing routing algorithms to enhance resource distribution efficiency and energy utilisation. The studies proposed models and algorithms to solve logistical problems, ensuring optimal paths and facilities for the distribution of medical supplies, thereby improving the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery systems [51][52][53][54].…”

“…Furthermore, all prior approaches assume independence of uncontrollable outcomes, which does not always hold. As an example consider a network of drones to be used in the delivery of medical supplies to rural communities (Filippi et al 2022). The drone must fly between locations, picking up and dropping off supplies before they expire.…”
