Gastroprotective and anti-inflammatory activities integrated to chemical composition of Myracrodruon urundeuva Allemão - A conservationist proposal for the species

Abstract: It is possible to replace the inner bark of the adult tree for the stems and leaves from the shoots as raw material to be used in the preparation of its the phytotherapeutics. Therefore, this finding may help in the implementation of public policies that ensure the conservation of the species along with its sustainable use for pharmaceutical purposes.

“…Portulaca olearacea [40] and Protium spruceanum [41], both rich in quercitrin, proved to suppress NF-kB/activate MAPK and exerted immunomodulation/enzyme activation, which could lead to their anti-inflammatory effect. Finally, the anti-inflammatory action of Myracrodruon urundeuva and Tetraclinis articulata is correlated to the presence of afzelin [42,43]. The presence of these three compounds as the main constituents of Crataegus almaatensis explains in part the anti-inflammatory action obtained for APCa.…”

“…Solid phase extraction (SPE) was performed according to Aguiar-Galvão et al ( 22 ), using a Supelclean (C18, 500 mg) reverse phase cartridges. Briefly, 20 mg of sample were dissolved in 200 μL of methanol (MeOH).…”

“…The fractions were analyzed in the positive (PI) and negative (NI) ionization modes in a range of 100-1,200 Da. ESI conditions were defined as follows: capillary voltage 2800 V, cone voltage 40 V, source temperature 120°C, dissolution temperature 330°C, cone gas flow of 20 L/h, gas desolvation flow 600 L/h, and MCP (microchannel plate voltage)-detector at 1,900 V. The compound identification was based on the molecular formula deduced from the exact mass (4 decimal places), considering a mass error lower than 5 parts per million (ppm), the isotopic ion pattern (i-fit) and the ion fragmentation pattern compared to literature data ( 22 ).…”
