“…This study proves that catecholamines and metanephrines can be propionylated directly in plasma, which greatly improves their detection by mass spectrometry. This increase in sensitivity is probably related to the increased lipophilicity of the derivatives and subsequent increase in ionization efficiency. , Furthermore, the method is highly automated, which reduces possible human errors. It can be improved even more by converting the liquid chromatography method to ultraperformance liquid chromatography.…”
