Game-Theoretic Scalable Offloading for Video Streaming Services over LTE and WiFi Networks

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents a game-theoretic scalable offloading system that provides seamless video streaming services by effectively offloading parts of video traffic in all video streaming services to a WiFi network to alleviate cellular network congestion. The system also consolidates multiple physical paths in a cost-effective manner. In the proposed system, the fountain encoding symbols of compressed video data are transmitted through long term evolution (LTE) and WiFi networks concurrently to flexibly … Show more

“…Here also the network (or the mobile device) needs a decision making mechanism to control the portions of data going through each sub-network. Recently in [210], an offloading system for video streaming between LTE and Wi-Fi based on game theory is proposed. The proposed mechanism controls the data quantity transmitted through each network in order to maintain the quality of the streamed media.…”

“…In [7, 8], the authors proposed a one‐dimension bid auction to share the resource. In [9–14], the authors proposed progressive second price (PSP) style auctions in which two‐dimension bid is designed for resource allocation in various application systems. In view of the practical applications in telecommunication and electricity networks and so on, our mechanism is designed following the PSP auction with a two‐dimension bid specifying a per unit price and a maximum of the demands.…”
