It is important also to give large quantities of proteins, as the development of cataract has been shown to be inhibited in the rat in the presence of a high protein metabolism (Mitchell & Cook 1938). I n this connection, it is worth mentioning that the urinary excretion of nitrogen has proved to be high in galactosaemic animals as well as humans (Pirie 1956).…”
