Fuzzy super twisting algorithm dual direct torque control of doubly fed induction machine

Abstract: <span>This paper proposes the fundamental aspects of hybrid nonlinear control which is composed of the super twisting algorithm (STA) based second order sliding mode control applying fuzzy logic method (FSOSMC), with pertinent simulation results for a doubly fed induction machine (DFIM) drive. To minimize chattering effect phenomenon due to Signum function employed in sliding mode algorithm, a new method is proposed. This technique consists in replacing the signum function by fuzzy switching function in … Show more

“…Direct torque control (DTC) was developed over a decade ago to provide quick and accurate dynamic torque response and flux control with a simple construction [1]. This method is well-known for its control robustness [2]- [14]. It relies less on machine parameters [15], [16] and does not require the complicated speed encoder, inner current regulation loop and field orientation block [17].…”

“…Currently, among all non-linear control of DFIG, SMC is one of the most significant methods to easily implemented and it has a best robustness to face uncertain parameters variation or exogenous disturbances [22]. As opposed to that, the chattering phenomenon is still the major challenge of SMC that have to solve, to reduce the impact of chattering, numerous techniques have been suggested [23].…”

“…The combinations of voltage vectors can be categorized as short, medium, or long. This feature enables the DTC system to pick a voltage vector that produces a torque regulation slope with a lower gradient for each torque and speed requirement [26]. Nonetheless, the uneven voltage supply in the dual inverter may cause lower power operation and disturbance at phase current, which later could impose distortion in harmonic current [27], [28].…”
