Abstract:Persistent luminescence materials are compounds able to glow in the dark after proper excitation. After the discovery in the 1990s of the long persistent luminescence in SrAl 2 O 4 :Eu 2+ ,Dy 3+ lasting 12 hours, the interest in this class of materials has grown quickly. Today, thousands of compounds are known to possess persistent luminescence, and some of them have found real industrial applicability. However, the mechanism driving the persistent luminescence remains somewhat unknown. The scenario is further… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
