The theory of evolution by natural selection postulates that involuntary adaptations in species gave them advantage for survival and reproduction, so the creatures that had the characteristics that made them better adapted to their niche were able to pass on their genes, and thus perpetuate the specie. In the evolutionary perspective, the brain is an organ that has evolved over millions of years to solve problems related to survival and reproduction in the same way as other body parts also came under pressure from natural selection. Understanding how the processes occurred and how natural selection has refined our skills and behavioral consequences has been the aim of Evolutionary Psychology. This article aims, through a narrative review, to describe the evolutionary psychology and its relevance to the understanding of human behavior. For this purpose, this article was composed by topics that may help in understanding this field of study and its applicability in psychology. Possibly the challenge remains to Latin American psychology is not just integrate Evolutionary Psychology effectively in academic teaching , but to ensure that dialogues between areas of knowledge which differ and that permit a more complete understanding of the human being.

Resumo: O artigo visa a indagar em que medida a religiosidade, observada a partir de seu contexto originário, seria um dos meios encontrados pela civilização para abafar impulsos humanos primários tendentes à desagregação social e moral. A despeito dessa tentativa de controle, questiona-se o quanto tais impulsos ditos primitivos prevalecem em nossa constituição biológica, psíquica e social, de modo a justificarem comportamentos aberrantes tão comuns em nossa época. Tomam-se por base as ideias de Henri Bergson, presentes no segundo capítulo d’As duas fontes da moral e da religião, intitulado “A religião estática”, em cotejo aos argumentos de Sigmund Freud, apresentados, sobretudo, em O futuro de uma ilusão e Totem e tabu. Apesar da aproximação com as ciências sociais, segue-se a hipótese de que o livro de Bergson nutre um diálogo mais fecundo com a teoria freudiana, no que tange à compreensão da religiosidade dita primitiva em oposição, ou não, à civilizada.

Tema de interesse para a clínica, a investigação das psicopatologias somáticas exige reelaborações metapsicológicas que contemplem os lugares do corpo e do afeto. Com a ênfase da psicanálise no recalque, a problemática do afeto teria ficado em segundo plano, causando uma lacuna comprometedora dos rumos dos atos clínicos. Resgatar as elaborações freudianas sobre o afeto, especialmente sua supressão, pode abrir espaço para a escuta da dor dos corpos enfermos. Neste ensaio, investigamos inicialmente a metapsicologia freudiana do afeto para, em seguida, propor elaborações a respeito dos destinos do corpo nas formações psicossomáticas.
