Abstract: FUNDAMENTOS: Nos pacientes transplantados renais, a imunossupressão crônica acarreta maior suscetibilidade às dermatoses infecciosas. Show more

“…Renal transplant patients have a very specific epidemiologic profile compared with the general population. These patients tend to develop a greater and distinct number of dermatoses, which are mainly infectious and neoplastic, as a result of immunosuppressive therapy 1,2 . Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most prevalent non‐melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) in the general population, followed by squamous cell carcinoma (SCC); BCC and SCC occur at a ratio of three cases of BCC to one of SCC.…”

“…30 Additional physical protection measures, such as ultraviolet The frequency of skin infections observed in our population was lower than that in other studies. 15,34,35 Skin infections predominated within the first 3-4 years after transplantation, 28 and more than 3 years had elapsed after transplantation in 84.9% of our RTR sample. There is evidence that increased susceptibility to bacterial, fungal, and viral cutaneous infections in patients with CKD varies between 28 and 70%.…”
