Abstract: This paper reports upon a Portuguese pedagogical model, where children engage with the teacher in planning and assessment during routine activities like "Council Meetings", "Communication Time", and using specific tools such as an "Activities Chart" and a "Diary". “…The second cluster, General Pedagogies (GP), consisted of mostly empirical research and included pedagogies that were often broad and generalisable. Examples included research about the relationship between IT and creativity and possibility thinking (Bonawitz et al, 2011; Craft et al, 2012); children's decision‐making (Folque & Siraj‐Blatchford, 2011); intentional learners (Leggett & Ford, 2013; Robinson & Bartlett, 2011); adult and child sustained shared thinking (Meade et al, 2013); outdoor play (Mawson, 2014); reflection and play (Salmon, 2016); and reminiscing as an IT strategy (Neale & Pino‐Pasternak, 2017). Within the GP cluster, six research items included micro‐analysis of interactive dimensions of IT.…”

“…One prerequisite for this, however, is that preschool teachers have knowledge of and use technological concepts. Folque and Siraj-Blatchford (2011) show in their study on children's learning in preschool that children engaged in group interaction have more opportunity to reflect, more experience with different types of reflections and more opportunity to use their language and reasoning skills.…”

“…In a more recent study, Folque and Siraj-Blatchford (2011) (Folque & Siraj-Blatchford, 2011, p. 229). This model included actively involving children with the teacher, in planning and evaluation as regular part of the daily routine.…”

“…It would therefore be valuable for this study to explore the views held by ECE teachers on the meaning of 'community'. practice' and 'communities of learners' (Bary et al, 2008;Cotton, 2013;Folque & Siraj-Blatchford, 2011;Jordan, 2003;Laluvein, 2010;Tamati et al, 2008;Warren, 2008Warren, /2009Wright et al, 2006); developing partnerships with parents (Mitchell et al, 2006;Van Wijk et al, 2006); and, children as central and active members of the 'centre community' (Nutbrown & Clough, 2009;Te One, 2008).…”
